Grants

If you are planning work on a run down or historic property, you may be eligible for financial help. Check with your local authority planning department (or in Northern Ireland the Northern Ireland Housing Executive), where a range of grants may be available. Not all authorities have the funding and you will probably be means-tested, but if a dwelling is deemed to be in a state of disrepair, you may be in line for financial help.

Historic property grants may be available from organisations such as English Heritage. Funds are limited and restricted to certain grade l, grade ll* or grade ll listed buildings in need of urgent repair. Further information is available at www.english-heritage.org.uk
