About FMB MasterBond Builders

FMB MasterBond was one of the first and is the largest scheme to be part of TrustMark.

With the added peace of mind that comes from TrustMark, customers who employ an FMB MasterBond builder will have the added security of further checks having been carried out on the building company. However companies standards can change; always carry out your own checks on your builder and where possible get three references yourselves and site visit other customers for your peace of mind.

FMB MasterBond builders, vetted and inspected builders who

• have a minimum three year trading history.
• have their work vetted by an independent body at least every 3 years. All new members from May 2007 have to be inspected prior to their membership being accepted by the MasterBond Warranty Scheme. This is the only scheme in the UK that inspects building companies in this manner.*
• builders who wish to join the scheme have to provide 6 client references and at least 3 are confirmed and checked by our Membership Department. We also contact a building professional who can confirm that building company's technical competence.
• have passed independent financial and other checks.
• have met with local FMB Branch approval.
• have public and employer liability insurance.
• have no un-discharged bankruptcies or relevant and outstanding County Court Judgements against company directors at the time of application. It is always sensible to run a credit check yourself on a building company before you sign a contract with your FMB MasterBond building company.
• are VAT registered.
• have passed credit checks, public record and director checks.
• have confirmed their commitment to the FMB and TrustMark's Code of Practice.
